First year defenseman Brian Megill has been acquired by the Bayhawks in another trade with the Denver Outlaws according to head coach Dave Cottle. In exchange for Megill, Denver will receive midfielder Dom Sebastiani and the 8th pick in the 2014 Collegiate Draft.
“This trade was one that was built on two teams having great depth in two different positions,” Cottle said. “Denver had great numbers and strength at defense and the Bayhawks were strong at short stick d-middie. Dom gets a chance to start at shorty and Brian helps us get more athletic and quicker at close defense. It will be a trade that helps both teams.”
Megill was drafted 7th overall in the 2013 MLL draft by Denver. The rookie played in 9 games with the Outlaws and picked up 26 ground balls. A USILA Second Team All-American at Syracuse and one of the 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award, Megill was ranked fifth in the NCAA in individual caused turnovers per game and a member of the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
