Best Signings of the MLL Season

The MLL season is coming to a close, so we are going to take a look at the four best signings from earlier this season. Josh Hawkins, Cam Flint, John Haus, and JoJo Marasco are all rookies, but they have made huge impacts on their teams this season.

Josh Hawkins and John Haus both play for the Charlotte Hounds, who are going into their first Championship weekend. Now Hawkins was acquired at the trade deadline, from Hamilton, but he has had such a season that he warrants inclusion into the list. Hawkins has gotten much more press in the last few weeks, due to his signing with Warrior. He has become one of the top two way middies in the league in just his first season. Hawkins has 5pts in 8 games this season, although his numbers aren’t very high he has 20 groundballs in those 8 games to compensate for the low point totals.

John Haus is a former Maryland Terrapin, and had his rights traded to Charlotte from Hamilton. Now he has 5pts in 8 games, but he has added an air of confidence to the Hounds offense in the later weeks of the season. All five of his points have come in the last five games of the season. With the playoffs rolling up he could be one of the go to guys as games get later and are undoubtedly rough and more physical.

Cam Flint, of the Boston Cannons, became one the go to middies this year for the Cannons. He has played in 7 games this year but has 17pts to put him in eighth on the Cannons. He is one of the best downhill dodgers in the MLL right now and has a wicked shot that can make goalie look like plywood cutouts in net. Flint added a depth to the Cannons midfield that was sorely needed this year, and playing much of the time with Stephen Berger, late in the season, created a dual threat on both the first and second midfield units. Flint has one of the biggest upsides out of the four players on this list.

JoJo Marasco, the former Syracuse All- American, was one of the most electrifying players in the league this season. He only has 9pts in 8 games but that has more to do with the fact that he also has players like Rob Pannell and Steve Mock who command touches. He was named to the player of the week list for week 14 after scoring 3 goals and having 2 assists, all 6 goals this season were in the final two games of the season. The New York Lizards have a huge group of young players and with Marasco they will be very good in seasons to come.
