Boston Cannons Look for Second Straight, Take on Lizards

Tonight the Boston Cannons will take on the Long Island Lizards, and right now this looks like two teams going in different directions. The Cannons came out of the all star break with a win over the Hamilton Nationals while the Lizards lost twice to the Rochester Rattlers.

The Cannons are tied for second place with Denver behind Chesapeake while Long Island is tied with Rochester for the last playoff slot. The last time these two teams faced off, the Cannons fell to the Lizards at home. That was on July 9th.

Paul Rabil is on pace to break the MLL scoring record for a single season, with 53 right now through nine games. The record is 71 points set by John Grant Jr in 2007.

The goaltending battle in this game will be a story, with Jordan Burke having a dominant season leading the league in all goalie stats. Drew Adams for the Lizards is fourth in those stats, but he won goaltender of the year last season and is widely considered one of the best in the league.

The Lizards have traded away defender Dan Cocchi to the Denver Outlaws at the MLL trading deadline. They will have Jordan Levine, who they acquired from the Ohio Machine on deadline day.

Game time is 7pm tonight and you can watch it on ESPN3.com.
