Brooklin looks to continue dominance over Kitchener-Waterloo

Tonight in the MSL the Brooklin Redmen (5-1-1) take on the Kitchener Waterloo Kodiaks (2-5). The Redmen are only a point back of the first place Peterborough Lakers and with a win can take control of first place in the MSL.  While the Kodiaks sit tied for fourth in the MSL and can move into sole possession of fourth with a win.

These two teams have met twice this season with both games being close but in the end Brooklin has prevailed both times by scores of 11-9 and 7-6. In their last meeting Zack Higgins was the difference as he made 43 saves on 49 shots (0.877) and allowed the Redmen to hold out for the 7-6 victory. Brooklin also got a strong performance from Shawn Williams who had two goals and three assists for five points. For Kitchener Aaron Wilson stepped up scoring three goals and one assist for four points and was a key reason for Kitchener being able to keep this game so close.

Brooklin will want to strike early in this game and try to take the fight out of the Kodiaks early. If Shawn Williams and Derek Hopcroft can get their offense going early they should be able to win this game. The Redmen will also need Zack Higgins to once again be on his game and stop the Kodiak’s offensive attack.

The Kodiaks will want to once again play solid defence against the Redmen if they want any chance o winning. In their last two meeting the Kodiaks have done a good job of limiting the Redmen’s chances but were unable to produce enough offense to win the game. The Kodiaks will need the rest of their offense to step up and help support Aaron Wilson who has had to carry this team on his shoulders so far this season. If the Kodiaks can get offense from players other than Wilson they will be in a good position to win this game.

In the end the Kodiaks will find a way to win a tight one against the Redmen as Aaron Wilson will step up and make the forwards around him better.
