Cannons and Hounds Faceoff in Heated Playoff Race

This Saturday at 7 pm, the Boston Cannons will take on the Charlotte Hounds in North Carolina for a rematch from earlier this season. In their first meeting, the Cannons rendered too much for the Hounds in a solid 14-6 win. This is the final meeting for the two teams this regular season.

The Cannons are currently resting at .500, just three games back of first place in MLL, while the Hounds are two games below that. Whatever the outcome of Saturday’s game, it could mean the difference between a playoff appearance or not for Boston. For the Hounds, things are not so easy.

Charlotte has struggled this season against Boston, as well as many of the other teams. Losing for the second time against the Cannons could be hard to overcome, as their remaining opponents will be just as competitive, if not more so than Boston. A loss here could potentially tie them for last place—a hole that at this point in the season will be difficult to crawl out of.

The Hounds will also have to compete with one of the best offenses in all of Major League Lacrosse. Of the Top 10 scoring leaders, Boston has three players featured on the list including; Will Manny, Kevin Buchanan, and of course Paul Rabil, who currently sits at number one. Charlotte isn’t featured on this list until the very end, where Mike Sawyer, John Haus, and Matt Danowski are credited.

Once the whistle blows, stats no longer matter, but if the Hounds are unable to figure out how to answer the Cannons based off of review from their last match-up, it will be difficult for them to pull out this win—a much needed win.
