Cannons Get Second Win, Top Hounds

The Boston Cannons picked up a much needed win last night with a 15-13 victory over the Charlotte Hounds. Mike Stone paved the way with four goals to move their record to 2-5.The Hounds jumped out to 4-0 and 6-2 leads before the Cannons found a way to lead 8-6 at the half. Rookie Will Manny scored the first goal of the game for Boston, but Charlotte scored again to make it 5-1 and it appeared it would be a long night for the Cannons.

Stone scored three straight goals to start the second quarter and then Kevin Buchanan tied the game at six. Goals from Brian Farrell and Buchanan gave them the halftime lead.

The Cannons led 11-7 in the third quarter before Hounds faceoff man Timmy Fallon won a faceoff and took it straight to the cage to make the game 11-8. After no scoring for a while, it became a bit concerning to see the opposing faceoff man score in a game again.

PT Ricci scored at the start of the fourth quarter in his return back to action along with rookie Cameron Flint. The Cannons led 15-10 with under four minutes left in the game and Ryan Young scored two of the Hounds final three goals as the Cannons took the victory, 15-13.

Surprisingly, Paul Rabil was held scoreless despite the Cannons putting 15 on the board. Goaltender Jordan Burke was back in form with seven saves in the fourth quarter alone.

The defense was in better form as well with Ricci back, holding the Hounds to no goals in the second quarter. The Hounds are now 3-4 on the season, and in fifth place in the league.
