Cannons’ Rabil Done for the Season

The Boston Cannons picked up a much needed win on Saturday afternoon but it was at the expensive of their super star midfielder Paul Rabil. Rabil broke his foot in Boston’s 16-15 win over Florida and the team announced he will miss the remainder of the season.

Boston needs to defeat Rochester next week and need the Ohio Machine to lose to the Florida Launch in order to qualify for the 2014 MLL playoffs. The Cannons did defeat Florida this past week to stay alive, but Ohio’s win over Rochester keeps the Machine in control of their destiny.

“Paul Rabil suffered an injury to his left foot duing the 2nd quarter of yesterday’s game vs. Florida.” said general manager Kevin Barney on the Cannons website. “He was evaluated by our medical staff and brought to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by our head physician Dr. Nascimento. X-rays showed a fracture to the 5th metatarsal in the left foot. Rabil will undergo surgery this week, putting an end to his 2014 season. One of the reasons Paul has chosen to have the surgery here in Boston is so he can be here with the team for our regular season finale on August 9.”

Rabil is expected to be ready for the 2015 MLL season and the 2015 NLL season if he chooses to play.
