CLax Players to Watch: Playoff Race Begins

Kevin Croswell – Durham Turfdogs – Goaltender

After being released by the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League, Kevin Croswell was scooped up by Head Coach/GM Jason Crosbie and the Durham Turfdogs. Croswell made 46 saves on 52 shots in his Canadian Lacrosse League debut against the high powered Ohsweken Demons. The Turfdogs are looking to Croswell to step up in the cage in replace of Whitby, ON native Zack Higgins who joined the Minnesota Swarm at the NLL deadline. The Turfdogs close out the season against the two last place teams with the Iroquois Ironmen and the Barrie Blizzard. Look to see the Peterborough netminder close out the regular season for Durham.

Mark Farthing – Brampton Inferno – Transition

The red hot Brampton Inferno won their third straight victory as Mark Farthing contributed with two goals and three assists while also nabbing Surge Apparel Transition Player of the Week. The product of Peterborough,ON has continued his stellar play on both sides of the ball this season. The former Brock Badger has posted nine goals, 21 assists for 30 points in 12 games while also being a force for the Inferno on the back end. Farthing and the Inferno have a tough test this weekend as they take on the first place Niagara Lock Monster this Sunday in St.Catharines.

Caleb Wiles – Barrie Blizzard – Offense

In the past two games, Caleb Wiles has found the back of the cage nine times while adding four helpers for an impressive 13 points. The Barrie Blizzard currently are tied with the Iroquois Ironmen with the sixth and final playoff spot and have the tie breaker in hand. The Blizzard have two tough tests this weekend with the first place Niagara Lock Monsters and the Durham Turfdogs. Wiles will need to continue to bring his play to the next level to help push the Blizzard into the playoffs.

Kraig Maracle – Iroquois Ironmen – Transition

In his first two games with the Iroquois Ironmen, Kraig Maracle has yet to register a goal but he has piled up a solid seven assists. The 22-year-old was named runner up for Transition Player of the Week after his four assist performance against Toronto last Saturday. The Ironmen take on rival Ohsweken Demon’s Friday night and Iroquois will look to see Maracles exceptional two way play to continue in pursuit of a playoff birth.
