With Niagara’s 11-7 victory over the SouthWest Cyclops Friday night, the CLax playoff picture becomes a little clearer. With the win, Niagara and Ohsweken have both now secured home floor advantage in the semi-finals, which will take place on Sunday, March 30.
First, the Niagara Lock Monsters will host the third place finishers on Sunday, March 30 at 4 p.m. at Seymour Hannah Arena. Later that evening, the Ohsweken Demons will take on the fourth place team at 8 p.m. at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
The battle for third and fourth spot remains a wide open race between the SouthWest Cyclops, Durham Turfdogs, and Barrie Blizzard. Currently, SouthWest sits in third with a record of 2-4. The Cyclops have two games remaining against Niagara and Barrie. Fourth place is currently held by the Barrie Blizzard who still have three games remaining in their schedule including match ups with Ohsweken, Durham, and SouthWest. The Durham Turfdogs are in fifth place at this point with only one game remaining against the Barrie Blizzard.
With only five games left in the regular season, a multitude of possibilities for semi-final match ups are possible. This week will feature all five CLax teams in action and could provide us with our first glimpse into what the semi-final match-ups may be.
