The Colorado Mammoth have announced the team has signed free agent defenseman Greg Downing to a two-year contract agreement.

“Greg is a very smart, skilled defender who will improve our back-end,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. “The coaching staff and I are big fans of his, and he’s an instant upgrade for us.”

The seven-year veteran has 520 career loose balls, and caused 49 turnovers in the past two seasons.

“The Mammoth is a great organization with a team that has the talent to bring another championship to Denver,” said Downing, on his decision to sign with Colorado. “I’ve called Denver home for the past three years, and I couldn’t be more excited to suit up in front of my family and friends, and the best fans in the NLL.”

Downing becomes just the second American-born player on Colorado’s roster and the second former Swarm player to recently join the team after the Mammoth signed forward Callum Crawford last week.

Colorado also inked forward Mike Mallory to a one-year deal.
