Curt Malwasky Named Roughnecks Head Coach, Bruce Codd Joins Staff

After letting go of their head coach a few weeks ago, the Calgary Roughnecks have announced former assistant coach Curt Malawsky will be the new head coach of the team.

Bob McMahon will remain on the staff as an assistant coach and former Roughneck Bruce Codd will retire as a player and join the Roughnecks staff. He played with the Toronto Rock in the 2012 NLL season.

Malawsky has won several Championships in lacrosse, including with Team Canada in 2003, with the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs in 2010 and the Mann Cup in 2001 , along with two more Minto Cups with the Burnaby Junior Lakers.

Malwasky was a candidate for the NLL Hall of Fame this year but was not elected in. He has been the assistant coach for former Roughnecks coach Dave Pym for three years. He has also held an assistant general manager’s role for those years.

He won the NLL Championship as a player with the Roughnecks in 2009.
