FINAL: DUKE 19 J. HOPKINS 11
This was a game that heated up quickly becoming an aggressive and passionate match.
Duke’s defense was on their game today. They played tight defense, communicated effectively and shut down loads of potential offensive opportunities for Johns Hopkins. Myles Jones was on fire at midfield, playing strong Blue Devil offense and commanding the troops.
Duke’s strongest points were offensive rotations against the Hopkins defense. The Blue Jays found themselves mix-matched numerous times, mostly with a short stick defender matched up with a midi from Duke, allowing Duke to capitalize on many.
Hopkins offense was a similar story, staying mobile and agile but constantly being shut down by the Blue Devil defense.
Many questionable calls were made, mostly against Hopkins, and took away much momentum for both teams multiple times. Hopkins must have been forced to play man-down at least five times, and that’s where Duke found their greatest opportunities.
The refs allowed stalling a bit too long before calling on the ‘timer’ and both teams played aggressively, Hopkins being subject to more penalties than Duke.
