ELL Playoff Preview: Custodes

The Custodes have arguably the most talented and diverse roster in the European Lacrosse League. Will that be enough to lead them to a playoff victory? The Custodes will be taking on Deutschland Adler this coming Saturday. Adler is the defending league champion and will be a challenge for the Custodes who finished last in their most recent tournament.

The leader of the Custodes is Radek Skala who leads the league in points by far with 49 on the season. Petr Poupe is also sixth with 28 points while they gained an offensive boost last week with the addition of Victoria Shamrocks jr player Dominik Pesek who scored ten points in his only four games of the season.

They have also addedbCanadian player Marco Hill also makes a difference offensively. He plays in the CILL for Detroit and the CanAm League in the summer. However, he is out this weekend to play in the CILL playoffs. They also added former Philadelphia Wings defenseman George Castle mid season.

The strength of the Custodes is their goaltending led by star Czech goalie Dominik Sika along with Patrick Crosby who they gained mid season. Sika has starred in two tournaments this season with the best goals against average in the league and has made 98 saves in his two tournaments.

All of us need to prepare for playing our best. I know we can play a a lot better than in the last tournament” Skala told us in an interview earlier this month.

The Custodes have it tough against the defending champs but overall their roster is full of talent that has played at the pro and senior levels. If they can put it together, they have a shot.
