Pietro Filipi has made some upgrades as they prepare for the playoffs where they take on the regular season champion Wolves in the semi finals.Filipi’s strength is in net with American goaltender Ginny Capicchioni who has played in the NLL, NALL and WLA and won a Mann Cup championship in the past.
Filipi is a very diverse team with American, Czech, Irish, English, Austrian, German, Polish and Slovak players. The other American on the club is scorer Boccellari.
The leading scorer for Filipi this season was Tomas Prochazka who had 23 points. Klaus Hauer hasn’t played in every game but when he has been in there he has been a solid scorer with 15 points, tied with Tomas Jeck.
Sean Gibson is a member of team Ireland and represents Filipi in ELL play. He has 14 points this season, 12 of them coming as goals. Gibson was the founder of the European Lacrosse Federation and is on the board of Ireland Lacrosse.
Filipi is the fourth seed and they have their work cut out for them against the top seeded Wolves. To win, they will have to rely on their star goaltending and their few offensive studs.
