FIL: Germany and Ireland Fight for Ninth Place

Germany and Ireland are set to square off in the consolation 9th place game. Both have had a very strong tournament with only 3 losses between the two teams, with both sharing a loss to Israel. With both teams having their way against most of their competition, this may be the closest competition yet.

Germany’s powerful offense has put up an impressive 79 points for to 53 against, 30 of which came in their two losses. Putting the ball in the back of the net should not be a problem, if they strike early and often. It appears that if they go down on the board early they do not seem to have the fight to keep themselves in the game. Look for Germany to use their strong attack play to get the scoring going, which can spell disaster for any defense.

Ireland enters the game with only one loss to the strong Israel squad. Their offense is equally as potent as they have accumulated 99 points for and 55 against, in 7 games. As the two teams seem to be very evenly matched on both offense and defense it could turn into a shootout. Also running most of their production out of their attack, the two teams seem to mirror each other.

The key to victory for these two teams is going to come down to the defense that can close the gate at X. Keeping the other teams attack from getting above GLE or moving off ball with their hands free for a shot on goal. With what should be a very even match up this game is a can’t miss for those attending the games. You can catch all the action on field 10 at 8pm MDT.
