Future is Bright for the Swarm

For the second season in a row the Minnesota Swarm lost in the playoffs. A win yesterday in Rochester would have sent them to the NLL Championship game, but it was not to be.

The Swarm will have four first round draft picks for the second straight draft, however. Last season they drafted Brock Sorensen, Kiel Matisz, Alex Crepisnik and Shayne Jackson. They have the first and second overall picks again due to trade, which will create an even better roster.

“The future is definitely bright in Minny ” says western scout Jake Elliott. “Having one and two will mean getting to great players who will have an immediate impact.”

Elliott also says the team can improve in all areas for next season and thinks that they could take an offensive and defensive player as a free agent or in the draft. “Well we finished short of our goal but I love our team and I’m proud of the season we had” says Elliott.

One of the big keys for the Swarm this season was losing their captain Andrew Suitor to injury. “Losing Suits hurt big time.  It took awhile for the team to get over that. You can’t replace a guy like him. It will be like getting two number one picks when he comes back next year. We didn’t really change our approach though. We stuck to our systems and game plans for each contest.”

The Swarm have plenty of options for their top picks next season, and the future is bright for this Minnesota club as they prepare for 2014.
