Knighthawks Historic Victory Keeps Them in Second

Last week the talk was “What happened to Rochester”, referring to the 16-3 thrashing by the Rush which tied a NLL record for least number of goals in a regular season game.  They came into this weekend facing Toronto on the road and then returning home with something to prove to the hometown crowd.

Mission one was accomplished Friday night with an 11-7 win over Toronto. But this win would mean nothing unless they completed the sweep versus Minnesota.  Well the Knighthawks did just that, and in record fashion.

The Knighthawks came out and delivered on their promise, a 10-2 win over the Swarm and now the Swarm hold the record for least number of goals in a regular season game with 2.

Joe Resetarits (3G) showed his value again after a 2 goalperformance Friday night.  Jordan Hall (2G/3A) with a big night, Cody Jamieson and Dan Dawson each had a goal and three assists.

But the story was Matt Vinc.  After being off his game last week, Vino was on his best game ever, stopping every shot thrown at him (39/41).  The only two chinks in the armor came at 5:28 of the second quarter and 14:28 of the final quarter.

With the pair of wins over this weekend, the Knighthawks are only one game behind Toronto for first place, with two game in hand.  Also, they hold the tie-breaker over Toronto.

Next week the Knighthawks will face the Colorado Mammoth with one time Hawk John Grant Jr., This will be a huge game.

The Knighthawks with a win and a New England loss to Vancouver next Sunday will lock up a playoff spot.  Colorado already secured a spot, but are now looking to reduce the 1.5 game deficit they trail Edmonton by.

Game time for Rochester vs Colorado is 7:30pm at the B.C.A.
