ILWT’s 2013 CUFLA Awards and All-Canadians

Although the Canadian University Lacrosse Associations have crowned the 2013 Baggataway Cup champions and named their All Canadians, ILWT’s very own Pat Gregoire names his own picks for the 2013 CUFLA season.

MVP: Kyle Davis (Brock) –

Despite leading Canadian university lacrosse in scoring and goals, senior attackman Kyle Davis fell short of the CUFLA All Canadian West Division list. The Caledon, ON buried 34 goals, added 28 assists for 62 points in 12 games with the Brock Badgers. Davis is a pure finishing righty, which was vital to the chemistry between himself and freshman Brandon Slade.

Defender of the Year: Eric Pitre (Western) –
Ever since he entered the league as a freshman, Eric Pitre has been a defensive force. For the fifth straight year, the former Toronto Beaches Jr.A captain was named an All Canadian for his outstanding defensive play. Not only is Pitre a game changer in his own end, but also his offensive skill and athleticism makes him extremely valuable in the transition game for the Mustangs. The defensive core of Western will take a huge hit as Pitre leaves the Mustangs after five outstanding seasons.

Rookie of the Year: Brandon Slade (Brock)-

In just his first CUFLA season, Brandon Slade found the back of the cage 28 times while adding 28 assists for 56 points, second in all of CUFLA scorers. The Orangeville, ON native is a shifty lefty who dodges hard to create playmaking opportunities. Slade has a very bright future with the Badgers and has a great opportunity to bring the Baggataway Cup back to St.Catharine’s.
