Iroquois Battles Israel on Saturday

This Sunday, the Iroquois Nationals and Team Israel go head to head in an exhibition game in Syracuse, New York. Both teams have been able to bring the sport of lacrosse to the youth in their respective cultures.

The match was originally set to take place on August 18th, but changed to fit the same date as the women’s club exhibition. Though just an exhibition, both clubs will be looking to showcase their talents to the Federation of International Lacrosse.

This game will be a part of the International Fall Ball Lacrosse Tournament which also features Syracuse University, an 11-time NCAA National Championship lacrosse team. In a press release on Monday, September 23 the Nationals noted that everyone is invited to attend the tournament and it will take place on the campus of Cortland State University in Cortland, New York.

Currently, the Iroquois Nationals rank second in the FIL world rankings in men’s indoor lacrosse and third in men’s U19 lacrosse, so it will be quite a test to see how Team Israel, one of the newest teams added to the Federation of International Lacrosse.  Most recently, Team Israel had played an exhibition game on August 19 against the Filipino American lacrosse club as a tune-up game to help prepare for the FIL 2014 World Lacrosse Championships.

Team Israel dominated the Filipino American Lacrosse club 18-2 in an 80 minute game played under the same rules and regulations played by the FIL. The team seems more than ready to dive into the competition that awaits them in the FIL, as they feature a roster filled with a number of players with NCAA Lacrosse experience.

Fans and supporters of both teams should be excited for this confrontation between the Nationals and Team Israel, seeing as both teams are looking to prove themselves as worthy competition in the FIL.
