ISC Approves Addition of Israel Lacrosse in Maccabiah Games

The International Sports Committee has formally approved the addition of men’s open lacrosse as an exhibition sport in the 2013 Maccabiah Games.

The approval is conditional upon at least three countries confirming their is significant interest from athletes in their country to participate.

“Having lacrosse included in the Maccabiah Games is of the upmost importance to our organization and the development of the sport of lacrosse in Israel,” said Israel Lacrosse GM Howard Borkan. “The addition of men’s open lacrosse as an exhibition sport in the 2013 Maccabiah Games will give us the momentum we need to work towards full inclusion in 2017.”

The Maccabiah Games are an international Jewish athletic event similar to the Olympics held in Israel every four years. The Maccabiah Games is the third largest international sports competition in the world.

The Israel Lacrosse Association is leading efforts to identify eligible athletes for potential entrants from Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Israel and the United States. Interested athletes can fill out a player survey at: http://www.lacrosse.co.il/reg/
