The Rochester Knighthawks defeated the Minnesota Swarm at home tonight in pre season action by a score of 11-10.
Rookies Kiel Matisz and the recently signed Sam Bradman both scored two goals for Minnesota, while transition man Joel McCready scored three goals for Rochester.
Former NLL MVP and one of the newest Knighthawks, Casey Powell, scored twice in his return to NLL action. Johnny Powless also scored a hat trick, and his third and last goal came on a game winning penalty shot.
Rochester took a 5-2 lead in the first half before Minnesota would score three goals in a row. After a goal from Rochester and an answer from Minnesota, the two clubs would go into half time at a 6-6 tie.
Minnesota scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter to take a 10-9 lead. Joel Henry had tied it at nine before Greg Downing scored the tenth goal. However, two goals from Rochester including the penalty shot from Powless would give them the win.
Evan Kirk and Tyler Carlson split the first half in net while rookie Zach Higgins played the entire second half. For Rochester, Matt Vinc and Jake Henhawk split the game.
The Knighthawks face the Toronto Rock in Montreal next week, while the Swarm have some tough decisions to make before the deadline of December 2oth. Stay tuned to In Lacrosse We Trust for updates the remainder of the pre season.
