Knighthawks Sign RFA Mac Allen

The National Lacrosse League has announced that the Rochester Knighthawks have signed restricted free agent Mac Allen to a contract. The Colorado Mammoth now have the right to match the offer within 72 hours in order to retain the defenseman on their roster.

Allen is the first RFA to sign an offer sheet with another club during this year’s free agent signing period under the terms of the league’s new seven-year collective bargaining agreement. Colorado has until 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 23 to match the offer sheet.

The veteran Allen was acquired by Colorado along with forward John Grant, Jr. via trade from the Knighthawks in October 2010. The defenseman played two games for the Mammoth last season, recording seven penalty minutes and six loose balls. Over his seven-year career with previous stops in Edmonton and Rochester, Allen has registered 22 points (6+16), 283 loose balls and 174 penalty minutes in 62 regular season games and appeared in three playoff games.
