The Ohio State Buckeyes had no answer for Payton Cormier, who scored a career-high seven goals on 12 shots as the University of Virginia Cavaliers men’s lacrosse team improved their record to 3-0 Saturday night in the finale of the 2023 Southwest Florida Shootout. The Virginia Cavaliers (17-3) defeated the Yale Bulldogs (15-4) 13-9 in front of 31,528 fans at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia to capture their sixth National Championship on Monday, their first since 2011.
