Chris Panos uis back this week with his weekly column. Make sure to send questions via social media using #PanosQA. 1.  How will lacrosse fare in Georgia with the Swarm? I think that lacrosse is definitely on the rise in Georgia. With the enormous growth with youth lacrosse in the south region of the US, I can see the fans embracing that style of lacrosse from an entertainment value. I…

McDaniels: MLL At Midpoint

June 2, 2015

We are officially at the midpoint of the 2015 Major League Lacrosse season. With that, lets hand out some midseason awards. Rookie of the (Mid) Year: Joey Sankey, Charlotte. While this is very premature seeing as some rookies have not even signed a contract yet, Sankey has had an insane start. The UNC product has 14 points (8 goals, 1 2-point goal, and 5 assists) in just two games. You…

MLL: Trap Games and Teams Hit Strides

June 2, 2015

In another crucial weekend several MLL teams secured wins that positioned them for a run at the playoffs while others proved that they still had fight left in them. New York avoided what many prognosticators dubbed a trap game against the Charlotte Hounds.  The Lizards doubled up on the Hounds and looked to have the game in hand.  Greg Gurenlian and Brendan Fowler fired the opening shots in what has…

Cannons Blast Launch at Gillette

June 2, 2015

When the Florida Launch traveled up to Boston, they did so with the hope that getting their main attack line of Casey Powell, Kieren McArdle, and Lyle Thompson would finally get their offense on the right track this season.  Unfortunately for the Launch, nothing seemed to go right for them while the Cannons were able to capitalize on nearly every opportunity they had on their way to a 13-9 victory….

NCAA Championships: The Best Weekend of the Year

May 30, 2015

The NCAA Championship Weekend is my favorite weekend of the year.  I have gone every year since 2007, only missing 2008 and 2011 in that span.  Even in those years, I did go see the quarterfinals the week before.  The reasons why I enjoy this event are numerous, but they were all confirmed once again this year.  Here’s a little run down of the weekend and why I keep coming…

May 28, 2015

Last week, we talked about the rookies we thought would make an impact in their Major League Lacrosse debuts. It was an impressive showing for the Class of 2015 so far. Joey Sankey dropped five goals and three assists for the Hounds. This was one of the most impressive debuts in league history albeit in a losing effort. The Hounds other young guns Josh Hawkins and Mike Sawyer will help…

2015 NLL Season Recap: Calgary Roughnecks

May 27, 2015

Back in 2002, the Calgary Roughnecks began their franchise history by setting an NLL record. For goals against. The Montreal Express, another expansion team that year, scored 32 goals in the rout. On the upside, the Roughnecks managed to iron the kinks out pretty quickly after that and went on to win their third game. They would go on to an unimpressive 4-14 record in their inaugural year, but since…

Baker: Outlaws Move to Second, Thompsons Debut

May 26, 2015

In the most lop sided week of the season, New York finally met someone that could not beat them and the Rattlers are tied for third place without playing a game.  Welcome to the craziness of the MLL as teams change their rosters and welcome their draft picks from college and almost all of the indoor players.  This transition helped the Denver Outlaws as they returned their line up from…
