Nick Carlson Retires from NLL

December 8, 2014

A career that spanned 12 seasons came to an end on Monday, as Nick Carlson formally announced his retirement from the National Lacrosse League. The transition player, who played all but one season of his professional career with the Mammoth, was a two-time All-Star who won the Champion’s Cup with Colorado in 2006. “I want to thank the Colorado Mammoth, and specifically Steve Govett, for giving me an opportunity of a…

Mammoth Have Much to Test in First Preseason Game Afainst Stealth

December 7, 2014

The Vancouver Stealth fell last night to the Edmonton Rush 13-8, and now they face the Colorado Mammoth in their first game of the pre season. While the Stealth lost last night, they still saw promising signs with goals from rookie Dan Keane and newcomer Dane Stevens. Colorado comes in without many changes to their offense other than the departure of Casey Powell and the addition of Alex Turner along…

Westervelt Brings Balance to the Mammoth Force

November 25, 2014

Colorado is known to be a left-handed player-heavy roster. John Grant Jr. and Adam Jones are two of the strongest lefties the NLL has to offer. With a one-year contract agreed upon, Drew Westervelt balances out the offensive roster. Drew brings balance to the Mammoth in another way from my perspective. Take a look back to the rocky road that was Colorado’s 2014 season. The first half of the season…

What We Learned: Colorado Mammoth Camp

November 20, 2014

NLL training camps have opened, and that means we are finally starting to learn how team rosters will take shape. The Colorado Mammoth were the second team to open camp. Here is what we learned. Rookies Better than Expected: Steve Govett said it, and so did a lot of other players after camp ended. Robert Hope and Eli McLaughlin are looking like studs early. It sounds like McLaughlin looks even better than…

According to multiple sources, Jeremy Noble remains unsigned by the Rochester Knighthawks as they approach training camp opening this weekend. Five Things to Watch at NLL Camp: Colorado Mammoth

November 15, 2014

Pollock, Iannucci Return: Casey Powell isn’t back, but the Mammoth have two of their most important scorers back in the lineup after they re-signed both Athan Iannucci and Sean Pollock. Having them back with the veteran oriented offense is huge. Buque’s Role: Despite having Tye Belanger in the fold along with Dillon Ward, the Mammoth drafted goaltender Alexis Buque. With Buque in the fold, is there a chance Belanger is…

Prospecting 2014: Top NLL Transition Players

October 28, 2014

Transition is an interesting position in the NLL.  Every team approaches it differently as some make them glorified defenders or just forwards that won’t get yelled at if they are stuck in the back end of the floor.  Others such as Minnesota and Buffalo make them a large part of how they want to act as a team by causing turnovers, pushing the ball up the floor and creating mismatches…

Eric Law to Miss Start of 2015

October 13, 2014

The Colorado Mammoth announced on Wednesday that forward Eric Law, who signed with the team in August, will miss at least the first month of the season recovering from surgery to repair an injured shoulder. The injury occurred while Law was playing lacrosse (with the Denver Outlaws) in the summer. “We were aware of Eric’s setback before we signed him,” said Mammoth president and general manager Steve Govett.  “We look forward to his full…
