Heading into a weekend set of games against the Toronto Rock and the Minnesota Swarm, Calgary Roughnecks rookies were afforded plenty of opportunity to show both the coaching staff and management that they deserved a spot on the Roughnecks active roster. The Roughnecks didn’t select until 16th overall in the most recent NLL draft, when they selected the towering 6’10”, 245 pound defender Tyson Roe out of the Nanaimo Timbermen WLA program….

The Vancouver Stealth released rookie Dan Keane yesterday. Vancouver wnt 0-2 in the two pre season games he played in last week. Keane was the 23rd overall pick in the draft in the third round by the Stealth. The 5’9 righty is out of Delaware and has played Jr A in Ontario with the Brampton Excelsiors, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see him sign with an eastern division…

The Calgary Roughnecks continued their cuts today when they released Jordan McBride, Pat Henry, and Casey Jackson. McBride signed as a free agent out of Vancouver this off season while Jackson was an undrafted free agent and Henry was drafted by the team. McBride has played 28 career NLL games between Colorado and Vancouver and has a career 76 points. A team that needs depth could pick him up. He…

In the Roughnecks Sunday afternoon matchup against the Minnesota Swarm they didn’t dress their full compliment of players, as big names like Shawn Evans, Jeff Shattler, Curtis Dickson, Jon Harnett, Greg Harnett and Tor Reinholdt were missing from their lineup.
