Last night the Barrie Lakeshores clinched their first ever appearance in the OLA Jr A playoffs. The Lakeshores have nine wins and that is enough to make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. They make it because of a loss from the Toronto Beaches to make it to the post season for the first time since they joined the league in 2009.
“This is unfamiliar grounds for this club,” coach Lindsay Sanderson said. “It’s a really tight race yet and we could finish anywhere from first to eighth. We have to keep playing like we have and get the community behind us. This is a really good team; every one of them feels like we have a legitimate shot here at something great.”
The Lakeshores play this Friday night against the Six Nations Arrows. The Lakeshores have lost their last two games to Peterborough and Six Nations after coming off of a two game winning streak.
Barrie has the fifth most points in the league behind Six Nations, Burlington, Whitby and Orangeville.
