The Florida Launch traveled to Boston this weekend for a contest today at Harvard Stadium at 3:00. Today’s game holds major playoff implications.
As I wrote in a column earlier this week, no team can clinch the final playoff spot just yet—there are scenarios involving Boston, Florida and the fourth place spot for now, Ohio Machine. With a Florida win, and Ohio win, Boston is eliminated from playoff contention. If Florida loses and Ohio wins, then Florida is eliminated from playoffs. Today will be an interesting day in Major League Lacrosse as the Machine will face off in Rochester tonight at 7:00.
Rookie standout Kieran McArdle, is continuing his fantastic season. Kieran had five goals and five assists for a total of 10 points and was named the Coca-Cola Player of the Game and Cascade Rookie of the Week for his performance in last weeks win at home vs the Cannons. David Earl, and Kevin Cunningham added four goals, followed up by Casey Powell who had three goals and three assists, to help provide the Launch to their win, snapping a five game losing streak.
For the Cannons, Matt Striebel will be a new addition after being acquired on waivers earlier in the week. The Cannons need to play better against the Launch to whom they allowed 23 goals just last week.
