Leung Part of Transition Heavy Draft Class for Calgary

Going into the 2013 NLL draft, Calgary Roughnecks general manager Mike Board said that he wanted transition. He added that and more with his first two picks.

The big name pick for the Riggers was Tor Reinholdt at number seven, but after that they made a splash with Victoria Shamrock transition player Karsen Leung.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the organization.” said Leung post draft. “It’s a great team and I look forward to playing with very talented players, including my Shamrock teammates.

“They’re a very talented team, with one of the best coaches and coaching staff”

Leung is 22 years old and scored six points in six games during the Mann Cup loss for the Shamrocks against the Six Nations Chiefs. He scored 12 points in the regular season. “Tor and Karsen (Leung) were two guys we targeted a long time ago, and we weren’t sure we were able to get them,” Board said in a press release. “Hence the move to get up to 10.”

Leung is very excited to move to pro lacrosse and play with his Shamrocks team mates as he continues to elevate his game. “It’s a very exciting experience, it’s been my dream to play pro lacrosse. I bring a lot of passion to the game. Losing in the Mann Cup makes me even more determined to win a championship.”
