Lizards Move to .500, Drop Machine

The Ohio Machine remain winless on the season with their most recent showing against the visiting New York Lizards. The Lizards poured in the first five shots and never looked back, winning the game 14-8. The Lizards used this victory to snap a recent two-game losing streak.
Tommy Palasek continued his great play as he broke the flood gates open in the first quarter for the Lizards. He found the back of the net off of a David Earl assist. Stephen Berger, who had four points on the evening, put the Lizards up two to nothing before Kevin Unterstein added a goal himself. Mark Mathews and Tommy Palasek found the back of the net respectively to increase the Lizards’ lead to five to nothing.
Chazz Woodson finally put a bandage on the bleeding as he used his patented dodge to score. Ray Megill followed the Woodson goal with a goal of his own.
The Machine would strike first in the second quarter as Will Harrington used a wraparound goal from behind the net to score. However, the Lizards would take over yet again.
Before the halftime intermission, Berger and Earl both scored on a Lizards power-play. The Lizards lead seven to three going into half.
A common trend of the Machine scoring early in the quarters and then allowing the Lizards to extend the lead yet again continued in the third. Woodson and Kiel Matisz scored the next two goals of the game, and then the Lizards went on a run again scoring the next four goals of the game.
The Machine struck first in the fourth off a Steele Stanwick goal. Berger of the Lizards followed before Kyle Hartzell of the Machine recorded his first goal of the season as it would also be the last of the game.
Drew Adams, goalkeeper for the Lizards had a stellar performance recording twenty saves and allowing just seven goals.
Face-off man Greg Gurenlian for the Lizards was a key reason for their victory as he won seventeen of twenty-six of the face-offs on the game.
