With the 2015 season approaching fast the New York Lizards have made huge moves to bolster their line-up. New York already has a threatening 23-man protected roster, had a really good supplement draft, and yesterday, finalized a deal to bring in Paul Rabil (Johns Hopkins), from Boston in exchange for Max Seibald (Cornell), and Brian Karalunas (Villanova).
Rabil could prove to be just the addition the Lizards needed going forward. New York struggled mightily at the midfield last year, as they relied on Max for everything offensively. They were able to move the aging Matt Streibal last season, and with Albert Maione retiring, they free up some wasted space up there.
If you don’t think the Lizards were thinking middies this offseason, think again. They picked up 7 Midfielders in the supplemental draft, including both the Bratton brothers, and veteran Stephan Peyser. We’ll see if Shamel Bratton is put in a more offensive role this season. Playing alongside Rabil, they could cause fits.
New York looks to have a completed roster, things will heat up quickly come late March on Long Island when Pre-season camp rolls around. Look out for the Lizards this season.
