Lock Monsters out gun Inferno 21-16

Yesterday the 1-1 Brampton Inferno took on the 1-0 Niagara Lock Monsters. The Inferno came into this game after a come from behind victory against Oshweken where they won  15-14. The Lock Monsters came into this game after lighting up the Iroquois Ironmen 22-13.

This game got off to a fast start as Brampton right out of the gate was pumped and took a3-1 lead in just under four minutes of play. Niagara was not be outdone though as they would score seven goals in the next 8 minutes to take a 8-4 lead at the end of the fourth quarter. Jay Preece would take over for Steve Fryer in net for Brampton as the monsters had Fryers number.

The second quarter would see the two teams fill the back of the net with goals as both offenses  were on display. Every time Brampton got a goal though Niagara was able to answer back and keep their lead. At the half the score was 13-9.

Brampton came roaring back in the third quarter and cut the lead to three as the score was now 15-12.  Niagara though kept their foot on the gas pedal as they scored three straight goals to take a 18-12 lead at the end of the third quarter. Crawley stood on his head in the third quarter registering 21. The Lock Monster though would not let Brampton to come back in this game as they continued to dominate and held on for a 21-16 victory.

The Lock Monsters offense has been dominant this year scoring 43 goals in two games. The Lock Monsters had 11 different goal scorers in this game which shows their offensive depth. Corey Fowler continued his strong play as he led the way for the monsters with five goals and three assists.

The Inferno once again got out gunned by a stronger offensive team and need to learn to play more physical and defensive. Leading the way for Brampton was Ryan Campbell who had five goals and two assists. The Inferno will need Steve Fryer to step up his play as they cannot expect Jay Preece  to play every night.

The Lock Monsters will next take on the Oshweken Demons next Friday night in what is sure to be a high scoring affair while the Brampton Inferno next take on the Iroquois Ironmen on Saturday night.
