Loyola had plenty of opportunities to push Georgetown out of the country; there were 17 turnovers that Loyola had caused. Georgetown looked out of synch in the first half, got themselves together in the second half, but could not stop Loyola from scoring.
Pat Laconi and Scott Ratliff was the start to an 8-0 run. This was by far an impressive win by Loyola; they had control the pace from beginning to end and Georgetown had no answer to defend anything. If you want to see how dangerous Loyola could be, look at how they disfigured a Georgetown defense that causes a lot of turnovers.
Give Georgetown some type of credit; it is very hard to stay positive when basically you are down the entire time. Georgetown in its own way had something to prove as well. They had to prove that even though they were down most of the game, they would not stop fighting to get back into it.
Loyola just needs to remain focused and show other teams that they are the team to beat. The next opponent Loyola will face will be against the University of Michigan. This will be a tough challenge for this Loyola team. They need their defense to remain in dominate form and continue to execute on the offensive side.
