Machine Acquire Peyser, Trade Cummings

The Ohio Machine made two trades today, trading away a franchise face in one deal and gaining a new player in another.

The first trade Ohio made today was with the New York Lizards. Ohio sent John Austin and the 13th overall pick to the Lizards in return for Stephen Peyser. Peyser hs 108 career goals in six seasons and has been a Lizard since 2009. He is currently on the team USA 52 man roster.

“Stephen Peyser is an unbelievable offensive talent that will bring a tremendous veteran presence and skill set to our locker room,” said President and GM John Algie on the Machine website.. “He adds size and a dodging threat to our midfield line, as well as a two-point threat that we were missing last year. We’re excited to have Stephen join our roster for the 2014 season.”

Ohio also traded midfielder Joe Cummings to the Charlotte Hounds for the 39th overall pick in the 5th round. In the past two seasons Cummings has been one of the most productive players on the Machine with 35 points in the past two seasons.

“We have a lot of depth at the attack position and this trade gives us another asset to address some of the other areas on the field that need our attention,” said  team president John Algie in a press release. “It also moves Joe closer to home at a time when his availability in 2014 will be extremely limited due to personal family commitments. We can’t thank Joe enough for all his hard work over these past two seasons and wish him the best of luck with Charlotte.”
