The Swarm played alright for about 3 quarters but failed to show up for the 2nd quarter completely. The Swarm were penalized 5 times last night and conceded 4 goals on those penalties. While the Mammoth were penalized the same amount of times but the Swarm could only capitalize on 1 power play. The Swarm were lead by rookie Shayne Jackson who had a goal and 4 assists and by Ryan Benesch (1g, 3a). The only player to score twice last night for Swarm was Jordan MacIntosh (2g, 1a). Both of Minnesota’s goalies saw time in net. Tyler Carlson started the game and allowed 9 goals and had a save % of 70%. Evan Kirk came in with just over 15 minutes left in the game and allowed 6 goals with a 57% saves %.

The big controversy last night was with 6:30 left in the game Mammoth goalie Matt Roik was given a 2 minute penalty and a game misconduct for an equipment violation. The violation came off of a Minnesota challenge and once the referees looked at Roik’s right glove they determined that it had been modified. Roik left the game with 35 saves on 43 shots.

The Swarm will look to move past this beating on Friday February  8th when they have a rematch with the Toronto Rock. The Swarm will then play the Calgary Roughnecks on Saturday night.
