Minto Cup: Arrows Take Lead on Adanacs

After opening the series with a pair of losses, the Six Nations Arrows have clawed their way back into the series and are just one win away from winning the franchises first Minto Cup since 2007. The Arrows head into Game 6 with major momentum and a convincing 3-2 series lead against BCJALL champions, Coquitlam Adanacs.

It comes as no surprise that THE Arrows’ sharpshooter Johnny Powless leads the Canadian Jr.A National Championship finals. In five games, the Rochester Knighthawk has tallied six goals and 17 assists, averaging 4.60 points a game.

Another Powless has stepped up greatly for Six Nations in the National Championship. Quinn Powless has lit the lamp six times while adding 10 assists for 16 points, good enough for second among Arrows runners. The flashy righty has produced highlight reel goals night in and out for the Arrows, including a diving around the world, behind the back goal.

After losing the first two games, Arrows netminder, Doug Jamieson, has cleaned up his game and helped Six Nations take over the series. In his three wins, Alton has made 102 saves, including a 39 save performance in Game 5.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Arrows have played relentless, racking up an astonishing 221 penalty minutes in just five games. If the Adanacs want to keep their Minto Cup hopes alive, they will need to capitalize on Six Nations’ parade to the box and produce on the powerplay.
