MLL 2014 Supplemental Draft Projections

The Major League Lacrosse supplemental draft is tomorrow and while there will be some surprises, it’s easy to see who might go where in some cases, as listed below.

Jake Beebe- Boston

Beebe has only even played in Major League Lacrosse with the Cannons, and as a New England native, at the very least he is a greta practice squad option for when the Cannons need someone in a pinch.

Carter Bender- Denver

Bender was traded to the Colorado Mammoth in the NLL this summer, and with the NLL schedule running into MLL season it is always easiest for players to play in the same cities in both leagues at this point.

Brendan Buckley- Chesapeake

Buckley didn’t work in Boston because their defense was pretty filled but he will be an early selection for a team who needs defense. Enter Chesapeake. The Bayhawks roster is so stacked they can just take players they want without worrying too much about need.

Robert Church- Chesapeake

Church attended Drexel University and could add some youth to the ‘Hawks lineup. However, playing in Edmonton during NLL season, how much MLL time he actually gets is a question mark.

Jeremy Boltus- Florida

Boltus was not protected by the Outlaws and it is likely he will be on his fourth team in four seasons. The Launch are looking to build a new team and Boltus originated with them when they were previously with Hamilton. He is finally recovered from his knee injury so he’d be a great pickup for any team.

Tyler Fiorito- Charlotte

Charlotte could use a backup goalie and Fiorito might be the best goalie that was left unprotected. He was a tenth overall pick so he has serious talent, would be a good pick for the Hounds.

Mike Gabel- Boston

Boston still needs a backup since all they really have is Jordan Burke. Gabel did a good job when needed last season when Burke got injured, so it makes sense for them to bring him back.

Dan Hardy- Rochester

Hardy is a talented attackman who will get a real chance with so many good NLLers out of the picture for a lot of teams. Out of Syracuse, he is a perfect fit for the Rattlers.

Jordan Houtby- Rochester

Drafted by the Swarm, his amount of time he can play might be questionable. But he is a strong defenseman out of Detroit Mercy, he is physical and not afraid to back down. A good young player for the Rattlers to get excited about.

Shayne Jackson- Charlotte

Despite playing with Minnesota in MLL, there is no reason why the Hounds wouldn’t bring him back for another go around. He played in only one game last season but has tons of talent.

Jovan Miller- Florida

Miller would fit perfect with Florida, a team and a player looking for new starts. Miller can stay in the south while the Launch get a big name player.

Jerry Ragonese- Chesapeake.

Ragonese is by far the best faceoff man available and the Bayhawks are in need. He is a proven FOGO and a great leader for any team.

Kyle Rubisch- Not Drafted

Rubisch is a top defenseman in Major League Lacrosse in a perfect world. However, with no Canadian teams left and him playing on Edmonton as their captain, it is unlikely he will see any MLL time.

Ari Sussman- Boston

Sussman has played with the Cannons the last few seasons and it would be good for them to bring him back if not just for depth.

Chazz Woodson- Florida

This might be the easiest projection out there. Woodson lives in Florida and the Launch need a player to market their team (other than, you know, Casey Powell). Probably a perfect fit.
