That’s all she wrote for the 2012 MLL regular season. With cheers of happiness and tears of sadness, the postseason teams are set for battle. Here are my three stars from this past weekend.
Head Coach Mike Cerino and the Charlotte Hounds are awarded the first star. They were the spoilers from this past weekend, ending the Rochester Rattlers playoff dreams. Winning their last game of the season, and the fact that it was a home game, put their future in Charlotte in the right direction. They knew they could dash away playoff hopes and knew they had to win one for the home crowd. It was unfortunate for the Rattlers, but extravagant for the Hounds. Will be interesting to see the off season moves that both these teams make.
My second star is awarded to Rhys Duch. Even though Hamilton had no chance at making it to Boston, he still played hard and helped his team go out with a victory. His five goals and two assists helped the Hamilton Nationals defeat the Long Island Lizards 18-8. The 10 goal differential is the largest margin the Lizards lost by and the Nationals won by in the regular season. Unfortunately it wasn’t the best season for Hamilton, granted they didn’t have some of their starters for the beginning of the season, but the win gives the organization hope for 2013.
The final star goes to Boston Cannons attackman Ryan Boyle. He is a very smart player, who understands situations and can be that “clutch” player and steps up when he is needed. On Saturday, he was just that. Boyle Recorded 6 points (2G, 4A) , including the two final assists that gave Boston the very much needed 18-16 win over the Ohio Machine.
