According to Inside Lacrosse, Major League Lacrosse will experiment with a game in Atlanta in the upcoming 2013 season. They will play the game at Kennesaw State.
Atlanta has been a target for the MLL and the league has stated so, and this seems like another step closer to a team playing in Atlanta in the possible future.
There will be a press conference at Kennesaw State on Tuesday at 11am where commissioner David Gross will attend. Gross has mentioned before hopes to expand to the southwest and east.
Last season the league played their all star game in Boca Raton, Florida, and that was said to have been a test run for a possible team there in the future. This game will likely be played for similar reasons.
The teams for this game have not yet been announced. Gross has stated that he wants the league to have 16 teams by 2020, and he has mentioned Atlanta as a potential market in the past.
