MLL Players to Watch: Week Two

The MLL has four games on the schedule this weekend.  Three key players to watch that will be difference makers for their teams will be Paul Rabil, Mark Matthews and Brendan Mundorf.

Paul Rabil – Midfield – Boston Cannons – Johns Hopkins Blue Jays 08’

Last year’s Warrior Offensive Player of the Year award winner; Paul Rabil will be looking to continue his strong start to the season with a Week Two matchup versus the Hamilton Nationals (0-0) on May 4th at Harvard Stadium. The Boston Cannon’s (0-1) midfielder scored four goals in a 14-11 loss to the New York Lizards (1-1) last weekend.

In two games last season versus Hamilton; Rabil scored three goals and seven assists for 10 points.

The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays 08’ alum set the MLL Single Season Scoring record last year season with 72 points in 14 games.  He scored 13 points more than second place Brendan Mundorf.

Look for Paul Rabil to lead the Cannons once again on offense this Saturday when they host the Nationals.  Rabil is a dominant force on the field with a great outside shot and outstanding dodging abilities.

Mark Matthews – New York Lizards – Denver Pioneers 12’

Second year attackman Mark Matthews and the New York Lizards are travelling to Chesapeake (1-0) to take on the Bayhawks this Saturday at 7 pm in their second game of the season.

Matthews has yet to play a game for the Lizards as he was busy playing for the Edmonton Rush of the NLL last Saturday in the first round of playoffs.  The Lizards acquired Matthews from Denver in a trade this past offseason.

Last season with Denver, the Oshawa, ON native was sixth on the team in scoring with 28 points (19G, 9A) in nine games.

Brendan Mundorf –Denver Outlaws – UMBC 06’

MLL veteran Brendan Mundorf will be anxious to get back on the field this week after missing his team’s first game of the regular season in a 21-16 win over Chesapeake last weekend.   The fifth year attackman with the Outlaws (1-0) was unable to play due to his NLL’s Philadelphia Wings first round playoff game last Saturday in which they lost 10-8.

The 2012 Bud Light MLL Season MVP led his team in scoring last season with 32 goals and 59 points in 12 games.

Mundorf will see his first action of the season on Saturday when his Outlaws travel to Ohio to take on the Machine (0-0) at 8 pm.  Last season, Mundorf had success against the Machine scoring eight points in two games.
