MLL Rookie Report: McArdle, Thompson and Wolf Shine in MLL Finales

The MLL season has come to a close and that means that every rookie has completed their first year in the professional ranks. While some players had got more experience than others, each one made an impact for his respective team. Kieran McArdle locked up the best season ever for a rookie in the MLL while Jordan Wolf had a tremendous impact for Rochester Rattlers in helping them earn a No. 1 seed in the MLL Playoffs. How did the rest of the rookies fare in the last week of action? Here is a look at how each rookie performed in Week 14.

Charlotte Hounds

Justin Ward had his lowest point total of his MLL career in the last game of the season as he had just one assist. He ends the year with 33 points though, including 21 assists. Mike Chanenchuk  was shut out for the second straight game this past weekend and ends the season with 14 points. Pat Laconi had one ground ball this past weekend and ends the year with six of them and a goal scored. Michael Ehrhardt scored his first goal of his MLL career and added four ground balls to end the season with a total of 22. Henry Lobb added two ground balls this past weekend to finish with 13 ground balls for the season. Lastly, Brendan Fowler had his best game this past week as he went 16-of35 from the faceoff X. He finishes the year going 49-of-114.

Florida Launch

Kieran McArdle ended his spectacular rookie season with four points this past weekend. Not only did he break the rookie record for goals in a season but he also broke the record for most points by a rookie in one season. He ends the year with 49 points.  Joe Meurer scored his first career MLL goal and added three ground balls in the four goal loss to the Ohio Machine. . Chris LaPierre finishes the season with four goals and had two more ground balls this past weekend, giving him 16 for the season.

Rochester Rattlers

Jordan Wolf finished his rookie year with a five point effort in a blowout win over the Boston Cannons. Wolf ended the year with 33 points in only seven games played. Mark Cockerton scored two goals in the win and ended the season with 24 points, all of which were goals. Miles Thompson exploded for six points in the win as he had five goals and one assist. He ends his rookie year with 19 points in nine games played. John LoCascio added an assist in the win and ends the season with three points. He also scoopped up 39 ground balls to go along with his strong defensive play.

Ohio Machine

Tom Schreiber is still on the inactive list due to a broken hand suffered against the Denver Outlaws. Rob Guida returned to the field and had three shots in the team’s victory over the Florida Launch this past weekend.

New York Lizards

Brandon Mangon scored a goal in his third straight game and ends the season with four points on the season. Joe Fletcher had six ground balls in the overtime victory and ends the season with 35. He also continues to add versatility to the defense as he can play both down low and up top.

Denver Outlaws

Colin Dunster scored a goal another goal this past weekend ends the year with six points. Brett Hiken saw the majority of faceoffs this past weekend in the overtime loss to the Lizards as he went 9-of-22 while going against the best faceoff man in the league in Greg Gurenlian. He ends the season going 26-0f-76 from the X.

Boston Cannons

Rob Emery had a goal this past weekend in the blowout loss to the Rochester Rattlers. He ends the season with 12 points and 53 shots taken. Jack Reilly and Scott McWilliams are both fitting in on defense for the Cannons and both players combined to eight ground balls this season. McWilliams played in eight games this year while Reilly appeared in only three. Austin Kaut got his most playing time this past season as he played one half where he saved eight shots and allowed six goals.

Chesapeake Bayhawks

Mark McNeill saved his best game for last as he recorded his first two points of his MLL career with a goal and an assist in the win over the Chesapeake Hounds. Meanwhile, Jack Runkel played a half this past weekend and he saved eight shots while allowing eight goals.
