National Lacrosse League Free Agent Preview

Tomorrow the National Lacrosse League will open up free agency where teams are allowed to talk to free agents. Teams are allowed to franchise their own players and re-sign their own players, while teams can offer restricted free agents offer sheets.

In a league like the NLL, most of the time the big name free agents are franchised or they re-sign. Some of these big name unrestricted free agents likely to stay are Josh Sanderson, Colin Doyle, John Tavares (if he doesn’t retire), Chris White, Aaron Wilson, Brandon Miller, Pat McCready, and Cam Sedgewick.

This is also a day where we could see a lot of trades. Would be free agent Shawn Williams was just traded to the Buffalo Bandits (after a quick stop in Minnesota). Do we see anymore would be free agents traded?

Some of the big names listed above might not be involved, but other good players could be on the move depending on a team’s needs. One guy to watch could be Anthony Cosmo. He wanted to play in Toronto this entire time, but Nick Rose seems firmly seeded there after his great second half performance last season.

Some very good restricted free agents are Kevin Buchanan, Curtis Manning, Jon Harnett, Brett Manney, Garrett Billings, Nick Rose, Stephan LeBlanc, and Kyle Hartzell.

While it is hard to speculate about players and where they will go, moves will be made tomorrow and beyond as we get ready for the 2013 NLL season.
