In this week’s Youtube of the Game Week, the Ohio Machine gave the Hamilton Nationals a last minute scare but the Nationals were able to hold on for the victory. The Nationals won the game 13-12 in what would be one of the most exciting endings thus far this season.
The Nationals remain the second best team in the league as they advance to 8-3 as the Machine still are the bottom dwellers at 1-10.
The Nationals were led by two players with 6-point performances. Joe Walters had three goals and three assists and Cody Jamieson had 2 goals and 4 assists.
The Machine were led by rookie Logan Schuss who continued his stellar rookie season with a 4-point performance on three goals and an assist.
In what would be an extremely exciting ending, Dillon Ward, goalkeeper for the Nationals would deny the Machine victory after a 2-point shot as fired and would have given the
Machine a one point lead with just seconds left on the clock. However, a National’s defender was flagged for illegal contact and the Machine would then have another chance to tie or take the victory.
After a few passes, Machine standout Steele Stanwick had the ball and took a hard cut towards the net with a clear path. Stanwick was licking his chops in hopes of scoring the game tying goal. Just as Stanwick was heading towards the net, Tucker Durkin performed a game saving check on Stanwick.
Now with just three games left in the season, the Machine have no chance on making the playoffs and will play for pride. They play host to the Hounds next Saturday.
The Nationals are now fighting for positional placement in the playoffs. They hold a one game lead over third place Chesapeake Bayhawks as they host the Cannons next Saturday.
