The Towson Tigers faceoff against the Massachusetts Minutemen on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
For the Minutemen, it is their fourth and final game of their current road trip and so far are 2-1. The Minutemen would like to finish the trip above with a winning record and they are very capable of doing so. So far this season the Minutemen’s strengths are having the ball in senior attackman Ryan Smith’s stick. Smith leads the team in goals (18) and is second in assists (9).
The Minutemen’s other bright spot this season is freshman goalkeeper Zach Oliveri who is currently 12th in the country in goals against average (GAA) with giving up 8.24 a game. If Smith can produce offense and Oliveri can maintain his greatness in the goal the Minutemen definitely have the upper hand Saturday.
The Towson Tigers have won four of their last five games and their chances to win this game ride mostly on the shoulders of junior attackman Thomas DeNapoli. DeNapoli currently has 28 goals this season which is top five in the country and is currently 21st in the country averaging 2.55 goals per game.
DeNapoli also has ten assists of the season which gives him a total of 38 points on the season, clearly if the Tigers want to contend in this game with the great goaltending of the Minutemen, I know it is cliché but, DeNapoli has got to produce and do so early and often.
