NCAA Preview: Hobart @ Cornell

This Saturday, Hobart College will visit Ithaca, New York to take on the Cornell Bears in weekend lacrosse action. Last season, these teams opened up their seasons against each other with Cornell winning 19-17. The match featured some of the best offense lacrosse has to offer, and this Saturdayshould be a welcome gift to fans of either institution.

While Hobart opened their season with a loss against Siena this past weekend, Cornell has yet play anything other than scrimmages, two of which were canceled. This first game of any season can be a bit sloppy, as each team is grabbing their baring’s, but with one game under their belt already, Hobart may have a slight edge over Cornell.

For Hobart, returning attack man and Captain Alex Love leads this year’s offense in his senior year, while Cornell has leading scorers Matt Donovan and Connor Buczek returning from last year. In the 2013 season, Cornell certainly had the more complete offense, with several players scoring over 20 goals, but with the loss of Rob Pennell, Steve Mock, and Max Van Bourgondien, they will certainly be depleted in this area, at least until the new freshmen find their rhythm within the team.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 1pm Schoellkopf Field.
