NCAA Report: Marquette Stuns Hofstra

Bucknell 7, Bryant 5

Bryant has surprisingly lost two straight while Bucknell rebounded nicely from a tough loss to Delaware the week before. Ryan Joseph and Sean Doyle had two goals each in the win while Sam Grinberg made 13 saves.

Prospect Watch: Hounds prospect Kavin Massa won 14 of 16 faceoffs for Bryant.

Lehigh 14, Furman 11

After a heartbreaker against Marquette last week Lehigh took their first win of the season from 0-2 Furman. Dan Taylor led the team with five goals and four assists while Reid Weber also had three goals. Kenny Meinsen had six goals for the losing Paladins.

Prospect Watch: Outlaws prospect Dan Taylor led the game with nine points and Lizards prospect Matt Poillon made nine saves for the Mountain Hawks.

Marquette 11, Hofstra 10

The Golden Eagles strike again. Marquette is 2-0 thanks to two comeback last-minute goal wins, and now Hofstra is 0-1. Kyle Whitlow’s four goals led the game for Marquette Blaine Fleming scored twice, including the game winning goal with 1:19 left in the game.

Loyola 8, Penn State 6

Loyola took their first win while Penn State suffered their first loss. The Lions had six different goal scorers while Loyola was led by three from Zach Herreweyers and four points from Brian Sherlock. Connor Darcey made 14 saves in the loss.

North Carolina 20, UMass 8

UMass has had a rough start to the season with two straight losses, and it’s never a good day when a team puts up 20 on you. The Tar Heels had three goal performances from Joey Sankey, Jimmy Bitter, Luke Goldstock, and Peyton Klawinski.

Prospect Watch: Hounds prospect Sankey and Machine prospect Bitter both had three goals. UMass player Ryan Izzo, also a Machine prospect, had one goal.

Maryland 8, Navy 1

It was a very bad day for Navy. After putting up 21 on VMI last week, they could only get one against Maryland, and it came from TJ Hanzsche. Maryland had two goals each from Matt Rambo, Henry West, and Joe LoCascio.

Prospect Watch: It was Launch prospect Joe LoCascio who was one of the two-goal scorers for the Terps.

Denver 17, Duke 13

This was a high scoring affair, led by six goals from Jack Bobzein and eight points from Connor Cannizzaro. Duke also had five points each from Myles Jones and Justin Guterding who is becoming a star for the Blue Devils.

Prospect Watch: Bayhawks prospect Erik Adamson had four goals and an assist. Outlaws prospect Wes Berg had an assist.

St Josephs 12, High Point 11

Dan Lomas and his High Point Panthers are better than expected this season, but they still lost to the up and coming St Josephs Hawks. The Hawks first win of the season was led by 10 saves from TJ Jones and three goals from Mike Rastivo.

Notre Dame 14, Geogetown 12

Mikey Wynne led this one with six goals while up and coming prospect Sergio Perkovic had three goals. This was the first game of the season for both teams.

Hopkins 13, Villanova 10

This snowy game was exciting from all angles. Four goals from junior Ryan Brown and five points from Wells Stanwick edged the Jays past Villanova. Danny Seibel and Sean Cerrone had four points each for the Wildcast.

Prospect Watch: Cannons prospect Wells Stanwick led the game in points. Lizards prospect Micheal Pellegrino had an assist.

Virginia 14, Drexel 10

Virginia grabbed their second win in a row against a tough opponent. The Cavs saw four point performances from Ryan Lukacovic, James Pannell, and Ryan Tucker. Will Gabrielson made 11 saves for the Dragons.

Prospect Watch: Cannons prospect Ryan Tucker had four points while Hounds prospect Ryan Belka had two goals.

Michigan 15, Detroit 6

Detroit wasn’t able to capture their second straight win as Michigan put up 15 goals. The Wolverines were led by six goals and eight points from Ian King and four points from Mike Schlosser. Shayne Adams had three points for the Titans.
