NCAA Lacrosse Tournament: Syracuse vs Yale

The No. 1 seeded Syracuse Orange (14-3) are looking to continue their winning ways when they face Yale (11-4) on May 18th in the NCAA Quarter Finals.

Both teams struggled in the opening quarter of their first round games.  Syracuse trailed Bryant (8-11) 4-0 after the first quarter but managed to crawl back and secure a 12-7 victory over the Bulldogs on Sunday.  Meanwhile, the Yale  Bulldogs (12-4) were down 5-1 after the first half but turned things around and beat eighth seeded Penn State (12-5) 10-7 on Saturday afternoon.  Yale became the first team in NCAA Tournament history to earn a victory after only scoring one goal in the first half.

Syracuse will be looking to their top offensive leaders on Saturday with the likes of Tewaarton Finalist senior midfielder JoJo Marasco (19G, 36A) 55 points,  sophomore attackman Kevin Rice (21G, 28A)  49 points and redshirt freshman Dylan Donahue (22G, 9 A) 31 points.

Yale will be relying heavily on junior attackman Brandon Managan (36G, 25A) 61 points and sophomore attack Conrad Oberbeck (34G, 8 A) 42 points, both of whom carried the offense for Yale this season.

With a Yale victory, they will reach the national semi finals for the first time since 1990.

The last time these two teams met, Syracuse beat Yale 18-6 on March 11, 2000.  Syracuse leads the overall series 18-4.

The winner of the Syracuse/ Yale game will take on the victor of the Denver/North Carolina game on May 25th in the NCAA Semi Finals at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
