Penn State Men’s Lacrosse has quite the lineup this season. They will be playing 15 games in total, nine home and six away. The team will be traveling to many different parts of the country, including Indiana, Maryland, Colorado, and Ohio.
This seems like a rough agenda, but these games are not part of their CAA conference schedule. Their conference game list includes three matches in University Park, PA, along with two road trips to Philadelphia (three hours) and Maryland (two hours).
The Nittany Lions are a strong team that performs well, especially despite certain difficulties, which is why traveling across the country for non-conference games will be an easy feat. However, this season is looking to be just right for the Penn State Men’s Lacrosse team in terms of conference matches.
Last year, PSU went 12-5 overall and 6-0 in their conference. This 6-0 record, coupled with the fact that they are scheduled for three of their most important conference games at home in University Park, is looking to give the Nittany Lions just the edge they had hoped to keep after their great conference record last season.
Geographically, the Lions have lucked out in terms of traveling for conference games. The furthest destination they will travel in terms of their conference matches is Philadelphia to face Drexel. Even when the team is scheduled to face Towson, they will only be traveling a little over two hours.
Hopefully, the blue and white use this lucky conference schedule to their advantage. I look forward to seeing how they perform in their first exhibition match of the season, this Thursday against Lehigh.
