NLL Names Week Ten Award Winners

The National Lacrosse League has announced Player of the Week awards for Week #10 of the 2013 NLL regular season which featured four games this past weekend.

Calgary Roughnecks forward Dane Dobbie, who ranks second in the league with 30 goals, won Offensive Player of the Week after scoring six goals and registering a total of 10 points.

Toronto Rock transition player Jesse Gamble, tied for 11th in the NLL in loose balls (61), won the Transition Player of the Week award after scoring his first career hat trick.

Washington Stealth goaltender Tyler Richards, who is tied for first in the league in save percentage (.807) and ranks second in goals against average (10.35), won Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after winning the award in Week #6.

Colorado Mammoth goaltender Tye Belanger won the Rookie of the Week award by helping Colorado snap their five-game losing streak in his first career NLL start in the second leg of their weekend road split.

Offensive Player of the Week
Dane Dobbie, Calgary Roughnecks (6G, 4A, 1 LB): Dobbie recorded 10 points (6+4) and one loose ball in Calgary’s 19-15 win vs. Minnesota on Friday.

 

Transition Player of the Week
Jesse Gamble, Toronto Rock (3G, 8 LB): Gamble recorded three goals and eight loose balls in Toronto’s 14-10 win vs. Colorado on Friday.

 

Defensive Player of the Week
Tyler Richards, Washington Stealth (1W, 10.00 GAA, .808 SV%, 2A): Richards recorded 42 saves on 52 shots and two assists in Washington’s 16-10 win at Philadelphia on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week
Tye Belanger, Colorado Mammoth (2 GP, 1W, 8.57 GAA, .790 SV%): Belanger recorded 15 saves on 21 shots in 32:27 minutes in Colorado’s 14-10 loss at Toronto on Friday and 30 saves on 36 shots in 59:29 minutes in Colorado’s 12-6 win at Buffalo on Saturday.

The NLL Player Awards are determined by a weekly vote of the league’s general managers and head coaches.
