No lead in the NLL is safe, even in Sunday afternoon preseason scrimmages, as the Colorado Mammoth found out. The Mammoth lead for three quarters until the Vancouver Stealth pulled ahead late in the fourth quarter to win the game 9-8.

The comeback win should give a much-needed lift to a Stealth squad looking to erase a forgettable first two seasons in Langley. Jordan Durston paced Stealth scorers with a hat trick and made his case to make it on to the opening night roster over veteran Cliff Smith on the left-hand side.

According to Jake Elliott, play-by-play announcer for the Stealth, other players who had strong performances were goaltender Chris Levis and Justin Salt who scored the game winner.

Colorado lead Vancouver 6-5 at half before potting two more to extend their lead to 8-6 after three quarters. But Levis held the Stealth in the game before Durston scored his third to tie the game at eight.

This was the second scrimmage in as many days for the Mammoth, who lost to Calgary the previous day 16-11.

With the start of the regular season looming, you can likely expect to see some players released as teams try to cut down their rosters for opening night. Vancouver does travel to Calgary next week to take on the ‘Necks at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
